Three diamond and jewelrys companies have managed are listed on the latest ”Hot 100 released by STORES Magazine, which is published by the National Retail Federation. They are high-end Tiffany & Co., online retailer Blue Nile and British-owned Signet Jewelers.
The Hot 100 Retailers list is the definitive annual ranking of the fastest-growing public and private retail chains in the United States. Rankings are determined by increases in year-over-year domestic sales between 2009 and 2010.
Tiffany & Co. placed 35th on the list, with worldwide sales worth $3.06 billion and U.S. sales of $1.45 billion. Its domestic sales grew by 10.8 percent in 2010.
Blue Nile, which placed 52nd, reported sales of $290 million 2010, 7.7 percent more than in 2009.
Signet Jewelers came in the 55th position with worldwide sales of $3.36 billion in 20101, and U.S. sales worth $2.74 billion. 7.3 percent more than in 2009.
Topping the list this year is Ascena Retail Group, whose major business lines include the Dress Barn, Maurices and Justice apparel chains. Its sales rose 58.9 percent in 2010 to $2.4 billion. Coming in at No. 2 this year is Amazon.com, sales grew 46.2 percent last year to more than $18.5 billion. No. 3 on the list is Tesco’s Fresh & Easy, which grew its U.S. store footprint 13.1 percent in 2010.
